Haiti - Economy : Installation of a new factory in Ouanaminthe

This week, the de facto President Jocelerme Privert, accompanied by Yves Romain Bastien, the Minister of Economy and Finance, proceeded to the inauguration of a new building of the Industrial Development Company (CODEVI), located in the free zone of Ouanaminthe (North-East).

The new building also establishes the arrival of a new textile assembly manufacture"Mazava Hispagnola" of the multinational "Winds Group" which expects to generate 1,000 jobs initially and over 8,000 in the long term. The new facilities of "Mazava Hispaniola" are oriented in the assembly of high quality sports clothing for export to the US market.

The ceremony was attended among others by José Ramón Fadul, the Dominican Minister of Labour, the President of the CODEVI and of "Grupo M" Fernando Capellan executives of Grupo M and those of Winds Group.

In his words of circumstance Fernando Capellan, offered his assurances to the establishment of good working conditions for its workers.

For his part, the Minister Bastien, has called for unity between the two neighboring countries. He argues that the installation of this new company to CODEVI should be a signal to encourage investors from other countries to follow suit by following this pattern of investment.
