Death of the mother of former President Michel Martelly

The presidential candidate, Jovenel Moïse under the banner of PHTK, has learned with sadness the news of the death of the mother of former President Michel Martelly, Martelly, Madeleine, born De Pradines, at the age of 84. Jovenel Moïse declared "In these painful circumstances, I join my voice to that of Martine [his wife] to present to the President Michel Martelly my sincere condolences. That his soul rests in peace !"

A Military field hospital in Jérémie

The United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) has confirmed that a UN military hospital is now operational and available in Jérémie to provide medical assistance to the population in two places in the Grand'Anse department.

UNICEF will rehabilitate 80 schools

Jean Beauvois Dorsonne, the Minister of National Education had a working meeting with Marc Vincent, the UNICEF Representative in Haiti, around the actions of school rehabilitation post-Matthew. UNICEF plans to rehabilitate 80 schools in the South, Grande Anse and Nippes, following the intervention plan agreed with the Ministry.

Allegations of partisan distributions

Following some information received by the Government of allegations of distributions made on a political basis or partisan Presidency "strongly condemns any hoarding or diversion of humanitarian aid to the detriment of the victims and those most in need." Moreover, according to the procedures in force "the President reminded delegates, vice-delegates, elected officials, responsible for the Civil Protection and the entire Public Administration, the obligation thay have to distributing aid equitably."

The Presidency stated that "instructions were given to the Ministry of Interior so that investigations are conducted for all cases that are the subject of denunciations and that the corresponding action is taken against offenders."

CONATEL praises DIGICEL

Tuesday, Jean Marie Altéma, Director General of the National Council of Telecommunications (CONATEL) has made a solidarity visit to teh Director General of Digicel, Selorm Adadevoh. Jean Marie Altéma praised the diligence with which the Digicel technicians were able restore communications in the Great South after the passage of Hurricane Matthew.
