Haiti - Prison Break : RD strengthens the military border controls

Following the prison break in Haiti Saturday afternoon of 172 of the 266 inmates of the Prison of Arcahaie (about 50 km northwest of Port-au-Prince) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-19015-haiti-flash-mutiny-in-arcahaie-172-escaped-many-victims.html , the Minister of Defence Lieutenant-General Rubén Paulino Sem, in charge of the Dominican army, announced the increase of surveillance and military controls at the crossing points along the border between the two countries, a measure which also applies to agents of CESFRONT (Cuerpo Especializado de Seguridad Fronteriza Terrestre).

Paulino Sem declared that this measure was taken to prevent escapees from entering Dominican territory "[...] from the time we received the official information we alerted the military security agencies so that they intensify border controls at all points of access." Moreover, he said it will be impossible for the escapees to bypass military surveillance that has been implemented in border areas.
