Haiti - DR : Border under preventive epidemiological alert

In a new report Dr. Jean-Luc Poncelet, representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Haiti indicates that the number of reported cases of cholera have increased considerably after the passage of Hurricane Matthew to settle in October 15 (October 9 to 15) to 773 cases (464 cases in the South department, 167 cases in the department of Grand'Anse, the other cases in the rest of the country, Ministry source.)

Altagracia Guzman Marcelino, Minister of Health, visited the border province of Dajabon and after a meeting with representatives of its ministry and other local sectors, announced a preventive epidemiological alert in the region.

According to the Minister in the wake of natural hazards that cause floods, weeks after there is a risk that arise from disease outbreaks such as cholera, leptospirosis, dengue and malaria.
