Haiti - FLASH : Cuba and Venezuela sent more than 200 physicians in Haiti

Following the passage of Hurricane Matthew, the Cuban Government has decided to send in Haiti a medical brigade member of the International Contingent of Physicians (Henry Reeve), specialized in disasters and epidemics.

This brigade is composed of 38 Cuban professionals with extensive experience in hygiene and epidemiology, including among others: 3 specialist physicians, ten graduates Epidemiology and ten technicians in vector control.

The brigade left Cuba on Friday with the means and resources to fulfill its mission and will join the 600 Cuban medical staff already residing in Haiti.

Moreover, the President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro announced that on Monday 10 October, more than 200 Venezuelan physicians will leave their country to Haiti to help the Haitian people heavily tested by the passage of the devastating hurricane Matthew.
