Haiti - NOTICE : Decree reported and end of electoral campaign

The Presidency's Communication Office recalled that "following the request of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) and by decree taken in Council of Ministers Wednesday, October 5, 2016, the decree of 19 July 2016 calling the people in his Comices Sunday, October 9, 2016 has been reported."

Furthermore, the Executive reiterates its commitment "[...] to make every effort, together with the Electoral Council, each in regard to, in order to organize elections in the shortest possible time and ensure the transfer of power to a democratically elected President February 7, 2017."

On the other hand, Uder Antoine, Executive Director of CEP reminded the parties, political groups in general, and the candidates in particular, that "[...] in accordance with Article 114.1 of the Electoral Decree in force, the electoral campaign ended Friday, October 7, at midnight.

Consequently, it is formally prohibited to any candidate or party, to engage in campaign activities, pending the adoption of new provisions."
