Haiti - Justice : Liberation of 2 minors illegally detained for over 2 years

Let's recall that following the visit of a delegation of the Office of Citizen Protection (OPC) to the prosecution of the Croix-des-Bouquets on 9 September two cases had been discovered closed without further at the Reintegration Centre for Minors in Conflict with the Law (CERMICOL). One of the files dated back to 9 June 2014 and the other dated 27 September 2014, these cases concerned two young male minors illegally detained, one jailed January 20, 2014, accused of theft and criminal conspiracy, at the age of 14 years and the other jailed April 12, 2014, accused of criminal association, at the age of 13 years . These two minor should have been released in 2014. Seized of the matter, the substitute Government Commissioner, Me Marie Claudie Cham Pierre accompanied the OPC early in the week at the CERMICOL in order to audition the two minors concerned. Subsequently, Me Cham Pierre ordered their release. One of them was welcomed by his mother who had come for him. HL/ HaitiLibre
