Haiti - Elections : The CEP excludes a Senate candidate

Gérald Jean, Senate candidate in the Northeast department whose candidacy had been approved, has just been removed from the list of candidates for corruption of electoral judge following a Commission of Administrative Investigation of Provisional Electoral Council that said in a statement dated Tuesday, August 30 "The Provisional Electoral Council, pursuant to its resolution dated 26 August 2016, following information gathered by the Commission of Investigation for the constituency of Ferrier / Perches [...] adopted the following decision : Mr. Gérald Jean, registered under the banner of party Vérité, #69, is removed from the list of approved candidates entitled to participate in the Third Senate elections of 9 October 2016 for the North-East department, for having recognized corrupter of electoral judges."

In addition, concerning the model of the ballot of candidate excluded the CEP "orders to the Directorate of the electoral registry to remove from the list of approved candidates for the third of the Senate the name of Gérald Jean and cancel his model of the ballot of candidates to the Senate for the department of Northeast."

Recall that during the 2015 elections, Gérald Jean, parliamentary candidate under the banner of Platform Vérité, in the constituency of Ferrier/Perches admitted to having paid a bribe to the Electoral Judge Jugnace Pierre to the National Electoral Office of Litigation for a decision in his favor "[...] I gave 10,000 US dollars to Jugnace Pierre [...] I have the deposit slips [...]" he declared at the time on a radio station in the capital, while the judge concerned denied the facts.
