Haiti - Religion : Privert celebrates the 200 years of Protestantism in Haiti

Thursday at the National Palace, the de facto President Jocelerme Privert, accompanied by the Prime Minister, Enex Jean-Charles and the Chancellor Pierrot Délienne, participated in the celebration ceremony of 200th anniversary of the establishment of Protestantism in Haiti.

The ceremony was attended by several hundred Christians from Protestant churches of Haiti, missions, organizations and Protestant leagues, under the initiative of the National Commission of Celebration of the Bicentennial of Protestantism in Haiti (CNCPH), a body created for the occasion by the Protestant Federation of Haiti (FPH) chaired by Pastor Sylvain Exantus.

"I am pleased, as was President Pétion in 1816, to welcome you to the National Palace," declared Jocelerme Privert who took the opportunity to invite Protestants to continue their collaboration for the development of education and promotion of the social Peace in Haiti adding "I expressed the hope that the Protestant sector is no longer treated as a poor relation. The State will do what is necessary to contribute to the development of Protestantism in the country."
