Haiti - Health : Dialysis, relief for patients of the HUEH

The 4 new generators hemodialysis (dialysis) funded with a $100,000 donation from the Republic of China (Taiwan) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17671-haiti-health-$100-000-donation-from-taiwan.html are arrived and installed in the Dialysis Unit of the Hospital of the State University of Haiti (HUEH) and patients with renal failure, were able to receive their first dialysis session.

"There is no longer question of shortage, lack of hemodialysis machines, malfunction of the water treatment system. To the old machines, are added four new freshly installed devices to serve the population. The water system was repaired and the hospital management has provided dialysis unit with inputs," declared Dr. Gabriel Timothée, Director General of Ministry

Recall that the hemodialysis service of the HUEH, has 8 dialysis machines including 6 down for several months that can be repaired only by one competent technician in Haiti, which has neither the tools or spare parts necessary... https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-17832-icihaiti-health-dialysis-the-lives-of-patients-at-risk-to-hueh.html So 2 machines only worked. With the new equipment, the HUEH now has 6 operational dialyzers.

For his part, Dr. Maurice Fils Mainville, Executive Director of UEH said that all arrangements had been made to ensure the delicate maintenance of such equipment. The Ministry sent a biomedical technician in Texas (USA) to receive training on the maintenance of these new dialyzers. Moreover, he stressed that a permanent connection is provided with the supplier to facilitate visits to upgrade these advanced equipment.
