Haiti - FLASH : Red Vigilance is maintained

Currently, the strong tropical wave affects the southern coast of Haiti, with strong winds and is expected to take more strength throughout the afternoon even tonight before leaving the country.

Therefore, threats of heavy rain with flooding risks and the dangers associated with strong winds are confirmed over the country especially on departments of South, Southeast, Nippes, West, and the Grand'Anse.

Given the potential danger represented by this disruption to the country, the SPGRD in conjunction with the National Meteorological Centre (CNM) maintains this Monday the alert phase at the level of Red Vigilance (ie risk of impact of very violent intensity to extremely violent) to heavy rains and announces the activation of the National Risk and Disaster Management Plan (PNGRD) face threats of heavy rain and strong winds with risks of landslides, mudslides and flooding throughout the country especially on the South peninsula.

CNM together with SPGRD asks the population of zones at risk to stay vigilant and strictly implement the safety instructions in case of flooding, mudslides, landslides, severe storms, high winds and heavy seas https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18202-haiti-flash-haiti-in-red-vigilance.html
