Haiti - Economy : Important meeting between APN and the World Bank

The past week, the engineer Alix Célestin, Director General of the National Port Authority (APN), received in his office Dr. Peter Faust, Policy and Management Advisor, a leading representative of the World Bank.

It was mainly discussed of advancement of the Port Sector Reform and the implementation of works of establishment for trade facilitation. The Director Célestin Célestin APN, to reduce the time of passage of goods on the dock, which is an important component of the cost of imports.

It was further envisaged the quick implementation of procedures, fluid and effective related to the delivery of goods in synergy with the General Directorate of Customs (AGD), responsible for the terminals.

Dr. Faust highlighted the concerns of the World Bank, namely the need to expedite the finalization of the project of Port Single Window, both on the point of view of information, procedures than on the time management and of stopovers, which would greatly facilitate the chargers in the routing and delivery of their goods.

Finally, the engineer Célestin explained to Dr. Faust the concept of "Port Economic poles" that would contribute to boost exports by facilitating on-site storage, the conditioning, the packaging of food products by our regions. A concept that caught the attention of the Representative of the World Bank.
