A site visit was held this week between the firm GLF, ALATEC and the APN in order to confirm that the realization of the construction order of the North Wharf of the Port of Port-au-Prince placed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) through the National Port Authority (APN) has been delivered in accordance with the execution timeline of works and under the terms of the tender documents, of design and of confirmation protocol.

The Italian-American firm GLF proceeded officially to the provisional delivery to the APN of port works ordered. This is a major event in the Haitian port panorama, given, that since the earthquake of January 2010, the Public Facilities of International Port of Port-au-Prince were compelled to operate from floating docks with prohibitive operation costs.

Out of this situation was imperative for the APN who invested from its financial resources more than $70 million in this first phase of reconstruction of the Port of Port-au-Prince. This work delivered to the APN by the GLF firm is guaranteed for a period of 50 years and the return on investment is calculated over 40 years.

A Tender for the concession for the operation of this terminal will soon be launched, as foreseen in the reform of the Haitian port sector being finalized.

Meanwhile the official inauguration of this work of art, the APN believes necessary to put in exploitation the new platform to meet the numerous requests (shipping lines, shipping agents, port operators, logisticians maritime chain, importers etc...)

Haiti, aware of the enormous potential of maritime traffic in the region is strengthened through infrastructure more efficient and modern to compete with Caribbean countries and take advantage of a growing sector by offering the Haitian Platform (public and private) as an alternative in the regional maritime movement.
