Tuesday during a press conference, Richardson Dumel, Communication Director of Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) has provided an update on the progress of the process and the candidates for the renewal of the third of the Senate "[...] There were 149 candidates https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18067-haiti-flash-149-candidates-for-10-seats-in-the-senate-list.html that were recorded online [for the renewal of the third of the Senate] However, at the xpiration of the deadline for the filling of documents, it's 120 candidates who managed to submit their documents in the different BED [...]

For the southeast there are 10 candidates out of 12 who have made the deposit of their documents, Grand'Anse 13/15, Centre 10/12, Artibonite 17/22, North West 9/11, Nord-Est 8/9, North 16/20, South 9/12, Nippes 8/11 and finally West 20 ou of 25 »

Before recalling the Electoral Decree after the registration period and filing of documents gives the possibility "that an elector who has a eason, to be able to challenge a candidacy, and that's why there is for the 120 Senate candidates, 10 cases of contestation: the Southeast BED received 5 case of dispute, for Artibonite 4 cases, and for the South 1 case [...]"

He indicated that for the Artibonite the Departmental Electoral Office of Litigation (BCED) will sit from Wednesday 27th July. Regarding the other departments, the Council will communicate and will make know when BCED of South-East and South will be able to sit.
