Haiti - Social : Colombia deports 24 illegal Haitian migrants

Colombia deported to Haiti, 24 illegal migrants that have been arrested in the city of Imués (Department of Nariño, near the border with Ecuador), said the Colombian army.

In addition the army arrested 4 adults of Colombian nationality : Freddy Armando Enríquez Obando, David Segundo Calixto Benavides, Gustavo Adolfo Méndez Galeano and Deisy Marisol López Díaz. Accused of trafficking of migrants they were put at the disposal of the Criminale Investigation Section (Sijin) of the Police for prosecution.

Brigadier General Sergio Alberto Tafur, Commander of the "Fuerza de Tarea Pegaso" declared that the Haitian undocumented had been arrested by soldiers of the 23rd Brigade during an inspection of public transport vehicles, adding that "Among the 24 Haitians, there were 21 men and 3 pregnant women (2 to 7 months pregnant)."

According to the spokesman of the army, the Haitians aboard an inter-city bus headed for the department of Chocó (Northwest), intending to cross the border with Panama, to continue their long clandestine trip to the United States.
