Haiti - Politic : Quorum reversed, Youri Latortue gives his version

Following the withdrawal of 5 opposition senators (former G8) of the National Assembly on June 28, having by this action, reversed the quorum and caused the adjournment of the meeting, Sen. Youri Latortue, leader of the opposition Group wanted to to clarify the facts, to stop the false rumors about what really happened.

The Senator Latortue said his group had made many concessions and arrangements to the majority bloc, including the abandonment of the requirement of delivery the presidential sash before the meeting and suggested that the former interim President Jocelerme Privert can register for new elections in the second degree (in Parliament).

This is the road map that divides the majority of the opposition and the main issue is the succession or continuity of Privert from power.

The opposition wants the roadmap can be submitted to any future provisional president, while the majority considers that the roadmap should address, namely to Privert, which would make this roadmap, if it was signed as desired by the majority, an implicit recognition of the maintenance of Privert in power. A trap that the opposition does not intend to fall, simply demanding respect for the Constitution.

So far, each sticking on its positions and treat of reciprocally the other side of uncompromising...

The Senator Latortue who consider as just the position of the opposition, is ready to resume negotiations with the majority so that Parliament can adopt a decision in accordance with the Constitution... what is far from being won...
