Haiti - Security : The armored car of Jean Henry Céant riddled with bullets

Monday around 6:00 pm on the road of Malpasse near the haitiano-Dominican border, gunmen on motorcycles chased the black armored Toyota Land Cruiser of Jean Henry Céant presidential candidate under the banner "Renmen Ayiti" and bullet-riddled the vehicle. Nearly twenty bullet holes were found.

The two people on board, the driver and a passenger were able to flee safe and sound in the police station near the attack. Jean Henry Céant who used to use the vehicle for traveling, was not on board that day.

Jean Henry Céant, does not exclude any hypothesis that would explain the attack besides the widespread insecurity. Without wishing to accuse anyone, leaving this to the police, he finds strange a succession of facts prior to the attack : he recalled that he had responded notably to the secretariat of the presidency he could never condone the imposture [speaking of the Government Privert], saying he subsequently sent a letter to each House of Parliament, which reminded the National Assembly that it had not "[...] no power to confirm or extend the mandate of the President Privert, which can not be candidate to succeed himself, since he has already served a term [under the Constitution] [...] "...

The authors of the shooting, have not been found, despite being passed front the Police station on motorcycle...

Following this incident, the Party Haitian Tèt Kale (PHTK) condemned in a statement "the odious attack against the presidential candidate Jean-Henry Céant and extends its most sincere support to the family Céant during this difficult time [...] the PHTK reiterates its request to the competent authorities to speed up investigations so that all light be shed on this attack and the perpetrators are tried before the relevant courts [...]"
