Haiti - Security : 2,000 pounds (907 kg) of cocaine from Haiti

Tuesday night, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized 2,000 pounds (907 kg) of cocaine aboard a ship cargo on the Miami River and several people on board were arrested.

According to officials of the US Customs, the 210-foot ship, named "Lisanne", flying Bolivia's flag, made the road from Haiti (Miragôane) to Miami River and docked around 3300 North River Drive, Miami, front Palmer lake.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Anti-Terrorism Contraband Enforcement Team had gathered information that there was a false compartment in the ship. Once the officers of Customs and Border Protection officers from Field Operations Miami boarded the vessel, they found about four hidden compartments welded into the deck. The agents drilled small holes in the lid of the cargo when they removed their drill, they found a white powder. They then made larger holes and found about 2,000 pounds of cocaine. The operation continued until Wednesday night. "We found 400 bricks of narcotics … and then an additional 400 bricks [Wednesday]," said U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesperson Dylan DeFrancisci.

The cocaine would have a street value in Miami between $ 20,000 and $ 30,000 per kilo, or 27 million dollars in total.
