Haiti - FLASH : Privert makes the Electoral Council, «almost permanent» by interim..

President a.i. Jocelerme Privert officially extended the current mandate of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP).

Now, the Electoral Council further its mission to finalize the elections begun in 2015, sees its mandate extended to allow him also to organize elections for the renewal of the third of the senators whose term expires in January 2017,

as well as local elections for municipal and departmental assemblies, of departmental councils and the interdepartmental council.

This expanded mandate goes further, since it allows CEP to carry out the elections for all other vacant positions or who might become pending the establishment of a Permanent Electoral Council.

In summary with this decision the President a.i. Privert makes "almost permanent" by interim, the Provisional Electoral Council and allows it to envisage of delayed elections, without risking the challenging by the opposition of the duration of the term of the current CEP.
