The immigration inspectors, accompanied by members of the Dominican armed forces have conducted several raids in different parts of the city of Santiago, Dominican Republic. During these interventions, 110 Haitian illegal and undocumented, have been apprehended.

Colonel Manuel Fornieles Dison, said that 40 Haitians, recently came across the border Dajabón, were arrested in the municipality of Navarrete. The Colonel said that other Haitians were detained in the municipal district La Canela and in the south areas of the city, including Bella Vista, Reparto Peralta, La Herradura and La Otra Banda.

Some illegal immigrants have tried to rebel in vain, against the Dominican authorities, others showed the indifference while many women and children were crying begging the authorities not to repatriate them.

The immigration authorities have indicated that the process of arrest and repatriation of Haitians, were made in the rules and respect of human rights.
