Haiti - Health : A methanol based beverage has already caused thirty death

Four dead and three people with blindness, just add to the number of victims who consumed alcohol adulterated since 22 February, bringing to thirty the number of dead people https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16704-haiti-flash-adulterated-clairin-at-least-10-dead.html The Ministry of Commerce affirms that after analysis of samples of alcohol consumed, sold as "clairin adulterated" is absolutely not clairin. It would rather be an alcoholic compound containing methanol, a toxic product for human consumption. The Ministry indicated that the investigation had helped identify points of sale of this deadly product and that the sector is currently being identified to identify the major suppliers "[...] The introduction of this product on the market was done not only illegally, but with criminal consequences [...] Traders have sold the poison to consumers," indicated revolted Jude Hervé Day, the Minister of Trade and Industry, who said that the investigation report will be submitted shortly to the Ministry of Justice for legal suites.
