Haiti - Agriculture : Inauguration of a new dairy in Maïssade

A new dairy belonging to the "Federasyon Fanm Mayisad" (FAM), as inaugurated in Maïssade in the Central Plateau. This dairy, the 36th of the "Lèt Agogo" network, will enable more than 120 cattle breeders including 20 models breeders, to value teh milk of the commune.

Furthermore, under the PWOFIPA'N project aimed at strengthening rural entrepreneurship and agricultural product value chains in the Central Plateau, the dairies of Belladère, Hinche and Mirebalais received training and equipment to allow better value milk from small farmers "

the implementation of the valuation units to process and preserve farmers agricultural products is one of the best strategies to ensure sustainable improvement of food security, it creates a sustainable source of income for farmers and discourage the excessive cutting of trees for charcoal production," declared the Dr. Camille Joseph, of Agronomists and Veterinarians Without Borders (AVSF).

This project was carried out by a range of partners including: AVSF, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Papaye Peasant Movement (MPP), Veterimed (Haitian NGO specializing in health and livestock production), the National Council of Popular Financing (KNFP in Creole), European Union (EU) and the National Authorising Officer of the European Development Fund (EDF).
