Thursday, the President of the bureau of age, the Senator Andris Riché, chaired the first session in the Senate with the participation of new Senators. During that session was elected the new political bureau. Of the 5 positions at stake, the opposition won 100% of the positions.

Members of the Senate Bureau :

Le Sénateur Jocelerme Privert (INITE, Nippes)

was elected President of the National Assembly (and of Senate) by 15 votes for and 7 abstentions. He was competing with Senator of the Artibonite Youri Latortue (AAA), close to the power and adviser of President Martelly, he has withdrawn (according to him), at the request of a group of deputies of its party, given that the Presidency of the lower house is already in the hands of AAA ;

The Senator Ronald Lareche (North east) (VERITE) was elected Vice-president ;

The Senator Fritz Carlos Lebon (South) (INITE) was elected Quaestor, a position already occupies by him ;

The Senator François Lucas Sainvil (North West) (INITE) was elected First Secretary ; and

The Senator Steven Ivenson Benoît (OWestuest) (Alternative) was elected Second Secretary.

Following the votes, Andris Riché urged the new Bureau members to administer oaths and take office. The new President of the Senate, Jocelerme Privert vowed to lead the work of the Upper House, calmly and impartially.
