Haiti - Tourism : Bassin Zim, a model of sustainable development

Monday Stéphanie Villedrouin the Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries (MTIC) and Dithny Joan Raton, the Minister of Culture accompanied by representatives of the tourism private sector, the European Union and senior executives of MTIC have paid a visit to the site of Bassin Zim located in the Central Department (Hinche).

By this visit, the two ministers intended to lay the foundation for a model of sustainable development based on community tourism. Recall that the Bassin Zim (Hinche, Centre), which has benefited for its development (including a tourist cottage), of the financial support of the European Union in addition to that of the Ministry and the Mayor of Hinche, is one of the sites of the "Water Route" circuit, a theme developed by the Ministry of Tourism.

During this visit, the two ministers held a talk with the people of Zim Basin area where is located, in addition to its spectacular waterfall, natural caves. These outreach discussions focused particularly on the need for communities to well welcome visitors to the site and manage the new tourist cottage.
