Haiti - Justice : The Minister Casimir reminds to organizers of demonstrations, their obligations

Following incidents that occurred on Monday in Petionville, during an unauthorized demonstration of supporters of Moïse Jean-Charles https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15801-haiti-news-electoral-zapping.html , during which schoolgirls and schoolboys have been incommoded, after inhaling tear gas used to disperse the demonstrators, Pierre-Richard Casimir, the Minister of Justice, wishes to state that "the National Police of Haiti have been briefed to make a moderate use of tear gas, only when necessary."

On other hand, the Casimir Minister reminded organizers of public demonstrations that they have "a constitutional and legal obligation to notify duly and within the deadlines provided by the Constitution, the competent authorities, the hours of the start and the end of the demonstrations, and the path that will follow the protesters.

Similarly, they must ensure the essentially peaceful nature of their movements while taking care to respect scrupulously the schedules and the course that have been communicated to the authorities and to cooperate fully with the police in the exercise of its powers to protect and serve."
