Haiti - Elections : Demonstration of jubilation in Petit-Goâve 09/11/2015 09:07:57
Sunday, shortly after the announcement of preliminary results of the second round of parliamentary elections, supporters and sympathizers of the candidate for deputy Germain fils Alexandre (VERITE) took the streets in large numbers to celebrate the victory of Germain Alexandre [18,012 votes (64.88%)] facing his rival Jacques Stevenson Thimoléon, PHTK [9,551 votes (34.40%)]. The newly elected attended a Mass at the Catholic church in the city where he thanked God for his blessings. On leaving the church, a crowd came to cheer and congratulate him. The new deputy walked the streets of the city saluting from house to house members of the population, handshakes, hugs and kisses, Germain seemed visibly happy and satisfied with this reception and his victory. At the end of this manifestation of joy, the new Deputy, thanked all Petit-Goâviens recalling "I am the Deputy of everyone. I oppose any clannishness. All those who remain in the right way, working for the maintenance of security, of peace in the town, will be my friends. Together, we will work. I will never betray the people until the end of my mandate." Moreover, following the announcement of the results, former Deputy Stevenson Jacques Thimoléon would have presented, on the airwaves of a local radio his congratulations to Deputy Germain and to its opponents.
