Haiti - Social : Rehabilitation monument Pont-Rouge a first step...

Earlier this week the Prime Minister Evans Paul conducted an inspection visit of the rehabilitation works of the monument Pont-Rouge, where there will be a grand ceremony of patriotic tribute to Jean-Jacques Dessalines, Saturday, October 17, to mark the 209th anniversary of his death.

"We all have the duty to respect and tribute to Jean-Jacques Dessalines, the Grand. It is him that delivered us from the yoke of slavery and gave us this land," stressed on the scene, Prime Minister Paul.

"The crossroads commonly called Aviation, now will bear the name of Jean-Jacques Dessalines. The redevelopment work of the monument Pont-Rouge, is the first step of rehabilitation of the whole area. As part of the redevelopment of the monument Pont-Rouge, neighboring houses on the square will be painted," announced Evans Paul, recalling that October 17, 2015 will be a national day of homage to Jean-Jacques Dessalines, including the races of the Emperor and a big parade https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15453-haiti-sports-launch-of-the-emperor-races.html and that the monument Pont-Rouge, will be a place of pilgrimage and meditation.
