Haiti - Social : Launch of the program «Ti Manman Cheri tou nèf»

The Fund for Economic and Social Assistance (FAES) has for mission to accompany disadvantaged communities in the development of their capacities and enhancing their potential to reach a common vision of their future by providing the necessary support for their strengthening and by financing priority projects identified by the communities.

The Social Welfare through the National Programme "Ede pèp" marked the communities and the subprogram "Ti Manman Cheri" which includes 80.234 beneficiaries in the FAES database, has continuously evolved in order to help mothers in extreme poverty.

In this perspective, changes were made to the program "Ti Manman Cheri" to ensure its sustainability and effectiveness. Renamed "Ti Manman Cheri tou nèf" several options were developed to enable these mothers to get out of their situation by creating economic independence to support their families.

Thus, a parent credit plan evolving in the same industry: livestock, fisheries, agriculture, etc... will be offered to pre-registered mothers in the program through a micro credit bureau to be responsible to route

loans to beneficiaries by loan officers who will deploy in the targeted areas. Each mother can borrow up to 5,000 gourdes and will have to benefit of it gather in a Deposit Solidarity Group (GCS), composed of at least three mothers and at most 6.

As for livestock, the distribution of two goats to every mother, will be restored after the first litter and assigned to another recipient mother.

In the department of Grande Anse, 3,147 mothers are already beneficiaries of the new program, to be implemented soon in the department of Artibonite, West and Northwest.
