After the support of the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15196-haiti-economy-adih-support-the-transport-restriction-on-23-products-from-dr.html and of Economic Forum https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-15229-icihaiti-economy-the-economic-forum-supports-the-transport-restriction-on-23-products-from-dr.html , the Chamber of Commerce and Industry West (CCIO), congratulates the Ministry of Finance for the measures adopted, relating to import restrictions imposed for 23 products from the Dominican Republic, forcing the importation of these goods only by sea or air to ensure better control. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15156-haiti-notice-import-ban-by-road-of-certain-products-from-dr.html

It took the opportunity to emphasize that these same measures will also help to combat smuggling, which facilitates the entry of illegal and non-compliant with quality standards, which promotes unfair competition threatening our national industries and deprive the State of substantial revenues.

Consequently, CCIO urges the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the government in general, to take all necessary steps to effectively implement these new measures in order to ensure a fair market. It is confident that these first steps will also allow an expansion of the list of products in order to include other affected markets.
