Haiti - Policy : Men of INITE shoot a candidate from UCADDE

Monday, October 25 around 3pm, at Maissade, Hinche (Central Department) four gunmen in a vehicle identified with INITE party signs, fired gunshots at a vehicle used by Mr. Jean Joseph Leonard, and his entourage, candidate for UCCADDE (Union de Citoyens Haïtiens Démocrates pour le Développement et l'Education) party.

The suspects fled the scene but three of them were identified by the victims. Following the attack, Mr. Leonard went to a local radio station to publicize the attack but was confronted by a group of twenty people who threatened him not to put the incident on the air. Mr. Leonard’s driver had a gun pointed on his forehead by a man who threatened to kill him if his boss continued with his campaign. Mr. Leonard has been asked to submit an official complain to the PNH.
