Haiti - Diplomacy : Supports strong of the international community to the electoral process

Sandra Honoré, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and other members of the international community in Haiti represented on the Core Group (the ambassadors of Brazil, Canada, Spain, the United States of America, France, and the European Union and the Special Representative of the Organization of American States) reiterates their strong support in favor of strengthening and of democratic renewal of Haitian political institutions through a transparent electoral process, inclusive and equitable.

Stressing the essential role of the 2015 elections for the restoration of the institutional balance and the designation at all levels of elected and accountable "members of the Core Group urges all actors to make every effort to ensure the completion of the electoral cycle of 2015 allowing the installation of a new parliament on January 11 and a new president February 7, 2016, pursuant to the Constitution, as well as local representatives. In this context, they have taken note of the commitments of the CEP, which aim to improve the electoral process, including through the adoption of corrective measures based on the experience of the first round and the recommendations of election observation missions. They encourage the CEP to undertake continuous exchanges, transparent, consultative and inclusive with political parties, candidates and voters.

Members of the Core Group call on all actors: the CEP, the government, political parties and candidates as well as voters, to use the opportunity presented by the election to build, together, a Haiti more peaceful, stable and prosperous in which prevails the rule of law and the democracy progresses."
