The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) informs that Jean Chevalier Sanon presidential candidate under the banner of "Christian Nationalist Party of Haiti" (PNCH) was removed from the list of approved candidates to participate in the presidential elections of 25 October and December 27th, 2015, for false statements about his nationality, in violation of Articles 135 of the Constitution, paragraph (1), 36 of the electoral Decree, paragraph (a) which states "Be Haitian or origin, have never renounced his nationality and not hold any other nationality at the time of registration."

"The Council, in its mission to ensure strict compliance with provisions of the Electoral Decree of March 2, 2015, was able to verify that the named Jean Chevalier Sanon, holds a Canadian passport, number JK702380. Therefore, it is excluded from the electoral race.

Consequently, his case will be brought in front the competent penal instances for legal purposes."
