Haiti - Politic : End of the strike of Dominican truckers and carriers

In a statement, the Technical Commission of Management and Border Development (CTF) of the Haitian Government informs that following the conclusion of an agreement, the strike of Dominican truckers and carriers is lifted.

Thursday evening, negotiations between members of the Executive Secretariat of CTF, the Management Board of the Union of Haitians Border Transporters (FENATRATH) and those of the Dominican Federation of Transporters (FENATRADO) allowed to reach an agreement that puts an end to the strike, which began on 3 August.

The agreement said the statement, "is the result of a shared understanding of the various protagonists to reactivate the trans-border traffic and ensure the regular flow of traffic of people and goods."

The statement noted that "The representatives of the Haitian and Dominican authorities present at this session, separated on a note imprint of cordiality and mutual respect, allowing to augur of a marked improvement in trans-border problem for the coming days."

Friday, following this agreement, Blas Peralta President of FENETRADO announced that Dominican carriers began to cross the border again loaded with goods, from 8:00 am
