Haiti - Economy : Spain finally clears Haiti's debt
"The good news take longer that bad," said Yolette Azor-Charles the ambassador of Haiti at Spain by signing Friday with the Spanish government the final agreement erasing the debt of $40 million owed by Haiti to Spain.

Let us recall that this draft agreement of exemption of the debt, had been sent by Haiti to the Spanish government in October 2009. The negotiation process had been stopped following the seism of last January. It is only on June 10th, 2010 that an agreement in principle had been signed between Yolette Azor-Charles and the second vice-president and Spanish Ministre for the Economy, agreement which was made public on June 23rd, 2010 in an official statement of the Spanish ministry of the Foreign affairs.

With the final signature, 13 months later, everything is back to normal, Spain has officially cleared all 40 million of debt of the government of Haiti.
