Haiti - Social : Dominicans expel Haitians living in Hatillo Palma

Several Haitians (over 200) began to leave Wednesday the municipal district of Hatillo Palma, municipality of Villa Vasquez, in the province of Montecristi, after a Dominican woman was physically and sexually abused by three supposedly Haitian.

After this event, unidentified are entered several houses inhabited by Haitians and destroyed their goods, and ordered them to leave El Cayito sector, where the event occurred, since Wednesday morning they began to move to other places in the North West.

The mayor of Hatillo Palma, Junior Fondeur, said for his part that so far "[...] there were three Haitians who raped and beaten a woman [...]" However, Fondeur says that he did not know the identity of the attackers, because in this community, many Haitians live there.

Dominican National Police officers were dispatched to prevent clashes between Haitians and Dominicans.

Recall that in 2005 hundreds of Haitians were expelled by the residents of Hatillo Palma after two Haitians were accused of killing a woman merchant with sticks and left for dead her husband, who survived, but remained invalid.
