Haiti - Sports : 10 medals for Haiti at Special Olympics in Los Angeles

This Sunday concludes the Special Olympics - Los Angeles 2015 (25 July to 2 August), which were addressed to people in situations of intellectual disabilities, a competition where the emphasis was on everyone's participation, rather than sporting achievement (not to be confused with the Paralympics).

The President Michel Martelly, welcomes the determination, talent and achievement of the Haitian athletics women's team which made the country proud by winning 10 medals in various competitions. The greatest achievement ever achieved by a Haitian team during a participation in such a sporting event.

"The Head of State expressed his utmost respect and presents its compliments to the Olympic champions, especially to Miss Ducarmé Genet, gold medalist in table tennis, as well as all other athletes, coaches and leaders who composed the Haitian delegation, who have makes float with honor and respect our two-color to one of the largest international events in the history of this American city," which brought together nearly 7,000 athletes from 170 nations, which have competed in 21 Olympic disciplines.

Martelly President continues to believe that, regardless of their gender, social or intellectual level all Haiti's youth should have the same chance and the same opportunities in the society to showcase their talents and abilities.
