Haiti - Elections : No to political bargaining in the health centers and hospitals

In a note, Florence D. Guillaume, Minister of Public Health following the reports submitted by the Directors of Public institutions of health services, of Directors of communes and Departmental Directorates face pressures and threats of all kinds, "makes a point to remind once again to the candidates in the forthcoming elections to respect the enclosure of Health Centres and Hospitals of the Republic.

These can not be the object of political bargaining whose sole purpose is to serve the individual interests of electoral or financial nature. Health centers and hospitals are apolitical spaces non-discriminatory used in restoring the health of the sick.

While calling on all categories of staff operating within the institutions to steel themselves to counteract such acts, not to operate any staff movements without the approval of senior management until further notice, the Ministry of Public Health also calls for understanding of the candidates to end such practices weakening the adequate offer of services and which in no way values them to the eyes of the majority of the population."
