Haiti - Pan American Games : Bad day for our Haitian Athletes

While Tuesday in the Pan American Games taking place in Toronto, a wind of hope blew over two of our Haitian runners Darell Wesh for the 1/2 finals of the 100m men, and Jessica Gelibert for the final of the 400m hurdle, both qualified for their performance https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14593-haiti-pan-american-games-a-haitian-in-athletics-final.html Wednesday was a day of disappointment for our two Haitian Athletes.

At 100m, Darell Wesh, who qualified on Tuesday with a time of 10.24 seconds Wednesday achieved a time of 10.32 seconds (5th of 6), insufficient to ensure his qualification for the finals (8 selected) whose time qualified range from 9.99 seconds for the American BeeJay Lee to 10.05 seconds for the Jamaican Jason Livermore.

At the 400m hurdles, Jessica Gelibert who had qualified with a time of 57.58 seconds (her best time for the season) finished the competition with a time of 1:00.23, finishing last of the eight runners. Gold was won by the American Shamier Little with 55.50 seconds, the silver by the Canadian Sarah Wells with 56.17 seconds and the bronze by Deborah Rodriguez from Uruguay with 56.41 seconds.

Moreover, Marlena Wesh another Haitian athlete who participated in the 1/2 final of the 400m women, did not finished the race (DNF) and therefore not qualified for the final.
