Haiti - Politic : The President Martelly in Barbados

On Thursday, President Michel Martelly, has left the country towards Bridgetown (Barbados) to participate from 2 to 4 July at the 36th regular meeting of the Conference of Heads of State and/or Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Barbadian, Freudel Stuart.

Accompanied, among others by the, Minister of Foreign Affairs and of Defence, Mr. Renaud Lener and the Minister of Justice, Pierre Richard Casimir, the Head of State attended the official launch ceremony of the 36th meeting ordinary of leaders of this community. He has, also welcomed the warm reception given to the Haitian delegation by the authorities of Barbados.

These sessions focus on several key themes including sustainable community development on the international agenda and relations with the Dominican Republic.

This 36th meeting will allow Member States to pay particular attention to the agenda of the post-2015 program of the United Nations, commonly called Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which will be adopted at the 70th Ordinary Session the General Assembly of the UN in September 2015.

The Head of State will review the various achievements of his administration in the context of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and will present its views and goals for SDGs compared to the CARICOM Action Plan 2015-2019.

Recall that the Conference of Heads of State and Government is the highest decision making body of CARICOM, responsible for determining the outline and general guidelines of policy.
