Haiti - FLASH : Over 25,000 voluntary returns

The Dominican General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported that on Sunday, June 28th, 25,517 people in an irregular migratory situation, returned voluntarily to Haiti (ou d'autres pays), since 18 June, after the end of registrations to the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE).

The DGM explains that out of this figure, 1,100 people have returned to their country of origin by taking advantage of the facilities offered by the Dominican government since June 22, 2015.

Rappelons que dans le cadre de la mise en œuvre du Voluntary return program, which ends July 6, 2015, in addition to private and air conditioned buses to transport for free people to the port, airport and/or the border point of their convenience, the DGM also offers free truck for the safe transport of moves of those choosing to return home voluntarily. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14325-haiti-politic-private-bus-and-free-moving-for-voluntary-returns.html

Transportation is available at the "Centro Olimpico Juan Pablo Duarte" located in the National District and in the "gobernaciones" of provinces of Altagracia, San Pedro de Macoris, Santiago de los Caballeros, Valverde (Mao), San Juan de la Maguana and Barahona.

In addition, facilities re made available to undocumented foreigners, who wish to return voluntarily to their home country so they can make the necessary contacts with the consular and diplomatic authorities of their nations.

The DGM recall that as part of a voluntary return, foreigners are exempt from sanctions in accordance with Regulation 285-04 of the law governing the institution. This means that eventually, they can return to the Dominican Republic without hindrance, provided they meet the documentation requirements, visa, etc...

In addition, it is reminded to all illegal aliens, who have not applied to PNRE they can regularize their status using the normal procedure established in the Law 285-04 of migration and its regulations .
