Haiti - Politic : Martelly in Venezuela pays tribute to the «Primero Negro»

Wednesday as part of the commemoration of the 194th anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo and Day of the Bolivarian Army to the National Pantheon in Caracas, the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, received at the Palace of Miraflores, his Haitian counterpart, Michel Martelly.

During the meeting, the two presidents exchanged views on the importance of the legacy of Pedro Camejo, better known as the "Negro Primero".

Maduro who thanked the President Martelly for acts performed to the National Pantheon in honor of the symbolic remains of Pedro Camejo, recalled that the combat of the "Negro Primero" was not vain, because its emancipatory struggle served to give a framework of respect for people of African descent and African Americans stressing that today the Venezuelan people and world brothers renewed their vows of love and admiration for this hero of the Fatherland which symbolizes for the fraternal peoples, the real independence.

Furthermore, the two leaders took the opportunity to review the bilateral progress that has been characterized by the stimulation and development of commercial exchange and economic complementarity.
