Haiti - Politic : D-4, DR deploys its repatriation device

Foreigners who will not be registered in the National Plan of Regularization of Foreigners in the Dominican Republic after June 17, 2015, end date of PNRE, will have to undergo in a transit center, to a process after which, some might be repatriated to their respective countries.

Major General Rubén Darío Paulino Sem, irector of Migration explained that these centers "of step" will be equipped with all the logistics for worthily receiving the illegal immigrants or undocumented, and they will not staying for more than 48 hours in those places.

Explaining that in these centers will be received Haitians and other foreigners of other nationalities and that each case will be treated individually. It will be checked if they have documents, a file will be prepared and those who are not enrolled in PNRE, that are without documents to regularize, their transfer to their country of origin, will be turned on.

He said that currently the General Directorate of Immigration worked on the construction of 5 Transit centers that will be located in Haina, Pedernales, Jimani, Elías Piña and Dajabón, indicating that it was not excluded that in the next days other centers is installed in Santiago and Higüey.

Paulino Sem, also announced that for the smooth running of the process, 2,000 officers (police and military) and 150 inspectors had received special training.

While the Dominican Republic is preparing to start its foreign repatriation plan in irregular migratory situation in Haiti, rumors suggest that radical groups want to form a chain with returnees to block the trade between the two Nations.
