Haiti - Security : Dismantling of a gang of robbers to the market of Dajabón

Sunday, the Dominican authorities have announced that security around the binational market of Dajabón, border town with Haiti will be strengthened from this Monday.

The Dominican Police said that this measure was decided, following the arrest Friday of a gang of robbers, composed of 19 Haitians and one Dominican, operating in the market of Dajabón, to which participates citizens of both countries.

The Dajabon Police stated that several of those arrested were surprised stealing goods to merchants and taking advantage of the negligence of buyers, they robbed their wallets and their jewelry. Those arrested, who were a threat to the security of the Haitian and Dominican merchants and buyers were in possession of various bladed weapons.

Among the Haitians arrested by Dominican police include among others : Dorinel Pierre, Samir Jean Pierre, Mayreny Dorcevil and Letrinito Pupú Pierre... However, the police did not reveal the name of the Dominician arrested...

The CESFRONT (Cuerpo Especializado de Seguridad Fronteriza), the army and the Dominican police, said they will guarantee the Haitian and Dominican security during the holding of the weekly binational market on Monday and Friday.
