Haiti - Music : 4th Edition of  «Tambour croisés»

The 4th edition of "Tambour croisés" organized by the producer Thierry Nossin Caracoli Association landed for a stopover in Haiti from 4 to 11 May 2015.

On this occasion, Caracoli prepared a program of concerts, conferences, meetings, workshops, screenings, etc... in collaboration with various cultural institutions, including the Ministry of Culture and the National Bureau of Ethnology, UNESCO the French Institute in Haiti, Knowledge and Freedom Foundation, Cultural Foundation Creating the Pyepoudre cultural Center, the Holy Trinity music School, the Action Group and Reflection for Education (GRACE/CAR), Ayiti Mizik and Kay Mizik la.

This program will give the opportunity to put the drum and traditional music in the spotlight, by showing their relevance and their potential on the international stage.

Note : the concert of "Tambour croisés" at the Convention Center of Jacmel, Saturday, May 9, is canceled. The musicians will give a workshop at the National Theatre 10ham to 12hpm.

Concerts :

Thursday, April 7: French Institute in Haiti (7hpm) / Free entry

Friday, April 8 : FOKAL (6h00 p.m.) will welcome other Haitian percussionists, special guests of " Tambours Croisés" for a "Drum Night." Free admission on invitation card to withdraw to FOKAL

Saturday, April 9: Jacmel Convention Center (7:00 pm). Free entry

Projections :

To complement the performances two screenings will be held on the theme of the drum and traditional music.

Friday, May 8, Kay Mizik La, at 2:00 pm Free admission for members of AM / KML "Haiti, beating heart" of Carl Lafontant with Lenord Fortuné "Azor", Michiko Tatsuno, and Sheila Tanisma (62 min.) Courtesy Productions Fanal and Marcel Duret.

Soirée culturelle :

Tuesday, May 5: Culture Centre Pyepoudre (6:00 pm). Free entry. Exhibition, storytelling, reading and other activities to bring traditional music to honneur. Harold and Adjasou will welcome guests to the drum. Béo and Jacky will say slam texts. The dancers of Haïti Tchaka Danse will make a short demonstration followed by the "Paroles tambours" tale by Pyepoudre. The evening will end with the animation of thewalking band Follow Jah.

Meetings and conferences :

The coming of "Tambours Croisés" also provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of the drum, of associated musical traditions, their topicality and their potential on the international stage.

Wednesday, May 6 : Kay Mizik La - 2h00 p.m. Thierry Nossin will address the theme of the adaptation of traditional music to the scene face the demands of the professional circuit of world music. Free entry.

Friday, May 8 - Kay Mizik La - 10h am - 10h am - Meeting with Francois Fortune, "Tinonm" musician, brother of Azor, founding member and current director of Racine Mapou de Azor. Free entry.
