Haiti - Culture: Important follow-up meeting of the XII edition of CARIFESTA 01/05/2015 09:55:48
Wednesday at the National Palace, the President Michel Martelly and Prime Minister, Evans Paul, accompanied by members of the Organizing Committee of the XII Edition of the Caribbean Festival of Arts and Culture (Carifesta 2015) held discussions with the Secretary General of the CARICOM, Irwin Laroche. The Secretary Laroche conducted a two-day visit to Haiti to follow up on preparations for the global event where some 2,000 people are expected, being all the participating delegations of the CARICOM. CARIFESTA will be held in Port-au-Prince, Cap-Haïtien, Les Cayes, Gonaïves and Jacmel, from 14 to 23 August, on the theme "Our roots, our culture and our common future". Irwin Laroche took advantage of his stay in Haiti to visit several sites of the capital, where will take place various activities of this important festival, including the Kiosk Occide Jeanty and the place of artists https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13447-haiti-culture-the-country-is-preparing-to-host-an-international-cultural-event.html The Haitian government reiterated its commitment and determination to organize and make this Carifesta XII edition a success and invited all cultural operators to mobilize in order to participate to the full success of the festivities. An ideal opportunity for Haiti to show its ability to organize large international cultural festivals. In addition, during the month of May, a Haitian delegation composed, among others of, Dithny Joan Raton, the Minister of Culture and Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries, will visit the participating countries in the region to ensure the promotion of the event.
