Haiti - NOTICE : Fraud discovery, a hundred schools involved

As part of government efforts for a reframing of the Universal Schooling Program, Free and Compulsory (PSUGO) in order to achieve better results, the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) identified, during an internal audit process underway, sSeveral schools with two different sources of funding for school children receiving subsidy. Other forms of irregularities have been found in different departments.

"So a hundred schools [Download the list of the schools https://www.haitilibre.com/docs/Liste-des-Ecoles-Beneficiaires-des-Subventions-EPT.pdf ] located in the lower and upper Artibonite, are clearly identified in this category, that could be already qualify of fraud. In other words, a child is both subsidized by the PSUGO and the Education Program for All (EPT)," explains the Ministry.

"While waiting for the file is transferred to the Fight Against Corruption Unit (ULCC), the Ministry invited the heads of the institutions concerned, to report immediately to the Departmental Directorate of Education of the Artibonite (DDEA) for the purpose of provide an update on these serious anomalies observed. A period ending Wednesday, April 15 is granted to the directors. Passed this period, the ULCC will be officially informed about the case for appropriate action.

MENFP reaffirms its commitment to clean up the management of PSUGO in accordance with the commitments of the Government in the fight against corruption."
