Haiti - Health : Visit of the construction site of the Hospital Simbi Continental

Thursday, Florence Duperval Guillaume, Minister of Health, accompanied by Rothchild François Jr., Minister of Communication visited the construction works of the Hospital Simbi Continental in Martissant 23.

With a surface area of 5,000 m2, the Hospital with a capacity of about 70 beds including a quarantine for hospital stay, with all the related services, offer medical care of high quality. Built by the firm IBT HAITI SA, in compliance with international standards, the health infrastructure costing over US $ 6.4 million (funded by Petrocaribe Fund), should be completed in August 2015.

Hospital Simbi Continental will receive 400 to 500 patients per day and serve among others, the communities of Martissant Fontamara, Downtown, Carrefour.

This new hospital "is part of a strategy to create a health microsystem in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince to better serve the population," indicated the Minister Duperval adding that her Ministry seeks to establish a partnership between the hospital and Doctors Without Borders, in order to benefit from its organizational system of services and enhance its effectiveness.
