Haiti - Carnival : Schedule of official funeral and news from wounded

Wednesday Rotchild François Jr, the government spokesman declared in a press conference that the "the government will support all those who died and especially families under this circumstance. Regarding the funeral it is the government that will support them, we will give a support to families to prepare the funeral [...] Saturday we will organize an official funeral for the victims of this accident which will take place on the Champ-de-Mars in the same area where the accident occurred."

Stating that the funeral will be sung at 9:30 am, everyone should be dressed in white. Those wishing to participate in this ceremony are invited to come on the Champ de Mars from 8:00 am.

Note that the vigil tribute to the victims, as announced in the press conference was canceled a few hours later. In a note at the end of the afternoon, Rotchild François declared "After meeting with the families of the victims, the vigil scheduled for Friday, February 20, was canceled."

News from wounded :

Dr. Claude Suréna of the Haitian Red Cross provided an update on the status of the 78 wounded "[...] The good news if we can talk about good news is that among all the people who were in the hospital https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13203-haiti-flash-16-dead-78-injured-the-carnival-is-canceled-national-mourning.html it remains no more than 6 in different hospital institutions, in stable condition, nobody is in a position of gravity [...] They continue to receive care [...] we hope that in 2-3 days they leave the hospital.

Concerning the singer of Barikad Crew, in principle he sould left hospital today according his doctors, with whom I spoke this morning. His situation is relatively stable, they will make a final assessment, if he does not leave today, it is supposed to leave at the latest tomorrow [Thursday]"

Dr. Suréna recalled that most of the injured were people who had suffered discomfort or are dropped, or have had disorders related to the panic situation and that they continued to be accompanied.

Accompanying measures :

Ariel Henry, Minister of the Interior and Local Authorities indicated "[...] We took a number of measures, in addition to the care of all hospitalized, we decided that we will accompany them, both in terms of drugs, care to be receive, as accompanying family [...] there is a Doctor of Civil Protection (DPC) in addition to their doctor, who will make sure that they have everything they need. [...] We have developed a psychosocial support cell at the DPC, to accompany the relatives of the victims and the wounded [...]"
