Haiti - Politic : Evans Paul met with the World Bank

Thursday, Prime Minister Evans Paul met, Mary A. Barton-Dock, the Special Envoy of the World Bank in Haiti. At this meeting was was discussed the cooperation between Haiti and the World Bank in the areas of energy, health and the electoral process.

Evans Paul, reiterated the fundamental mission related to the roadmap entrusted to him by the President Martelly, to create the conditions necessary for the organization of credible, honest and transparent. He also said that his government was seeking to achieve ambitious projects in the interests of the population, based on the principle of continuity of the State.

Regarding the energy issue, both parties have recognized that this sector was not "serene" and agreed to a set of measures to be taken in order to consolidate the sector. They have evoked a steering over time and the need for better coordination in the field of energy to enable all stakeholders to find the necessary synergy to put this sector on the highway modernization.

Addressing the case of cholera, the Prime Minister has formally requested the assistance of the World Bank. explaining that "The government is proposing to train community health workers [...]"

"A program is currently underway, may be used to finance these agents [...] regardless of the strategy that the Bank plans to adopt, in consultation with the authorities of the country in the coming months," specified Ms. Barton-Dock.
