Haiti - Dominican Republic : Meeting of the Joint Bilateral Commission next week...

On the sidelines of the Third Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which was held in San José (Costa Rica), Navarro, the Dominican Minister of Affairs and Foreign and his Haitian counterpart Duly Brutus discussed diplomatic relations, issues of common interest and the need to deepen the process of dialogue open between the two countries since October 2014, as well as the coordination the work done by the Joint Bilateral Commission (CMB), composed of representatives of the two governments.

Following the meeting of San Jose, Friday the Dominican Chancellor Andrés Navarro, back in his country announced that the governments of Haiti and the Dominican Republic, will reactivate next week the CMB, to continue the dialogue leading to the approval and signing of agreements on various issues still pending, including in the areas of tourism, environment, trade and border security. It is expected that representatives of the Haitian and Dominican business sector, participate in this meeting.

The planning of the agenda, of the next high-level dialogue between the two nations on the island will also be on the agenda of the CMB.

Chancellor Navarro said he was determined to give priority to the Dominican foreign policy with Haiti, not only with discussions on traditional themes but to go beyond, to identify initiatives that might be useful for the development of two peoples.
